Ballet Memphis Company Artist 2024 Summer Round up
Summer 2024 is in the books! Here is what some of our company members did over the break:
Anwen Brown, Iori Araya, and Wyatt Pendleton represented Ballet Memphis well at the National Choreographer’s Initiative in California! Only 16 dancers nationwide are chosen each year, so with 3/16 being from our company we like those odds!
Iori also performed as a guest artist at Northwest Florida Ballet (with Ballet Memphis alum Andre Gallon) in “Le Corsaire” pas de deux and “Afterglow” by Todd Allen!
Cecily Khuner danced with @terpsicorps Theater of Dance for five weeks performing in Heather Maloy’s production of ”Before the Scream” in both Winston-Salem and Asheville, North Carolina. Photo credit Irwin Fayne.
Emilia Sandoval went to Orsalina28 in Moncalvo, Italy this summer to dance with Medhi Walerski of Ballet BC! While there, she took the opportunity to travel solo in Italy. Bellissimo!
Phoebe Magna shared her expertise this summer teaching technique, pointe, and staging the scarf dance from “La Bayadere” at Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts and instructing at New England Ballet Theatre’s summer intensive. She is pictured with Nutmeg Ballet’s Artistic Director Victoria Mazzarelli and friends.
One of our new company artists who you will meet formally in the coming days, Cayce Cavett, danced in the Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Ballet Ensemble under the direction of Annabelle Lopez Ochoa in two separate world premieres!
And last, love is in the air! Two Ballet Memphians, company artist, Wyatt Pendleton, and Pilates + Wellness Manager, Jessie Tretter, got engaged on a road trip to South Dakota, just like we’d expect from this adventurous and fun-loving couple! We are so thrilled for these two incredible people! Best wishes!
