The Ballet Memphis School has announced that classes will resume for the fall semester on August 24. Registration will begin on August 3 for Discover Dance, Ballet 1 through 8, and Older and Younger beginners.

The Ballet School will follow the Shelby County guidance and begin in-person or blended classes when the COVID-19 situation in Shelby County warrants the move to Phase III of the Back to Business Plan. While the City of Memphis and Shelby County remain in Phase II, the Ballet Memphis School will teach all classes virtually. A full complement of afternoon/evening and Saturday classes will be in place virtually, so that a move to in-person instruction or a blended curriculum will happen seamlessly.

Ballet Memphis has put the health and safety of our students and their families, as well as our instructors and staff, as a top priority. We are eager to see our students in the studio again as soon as the community health situation allows. We will remain nimble in this ever-evolving situation. Plans are in place for the highest quality instruction at every level of ballet. The same Ballet Memphis School curriculum will be followed so that students continue to advance their skills throughout the semester.

Ballet Memphis has invested in high quality cameras and hard-wired Ethernet connections so that the highest quality virtual instructions may be offered without interruption. During virtual classes, most instructors will teach from the Ballet Memphis studio to ensure that corrections and demonstrations are clearly seen by all students.

When we are able to return to the studios for in-person instruction, Ballet Memphis will implement all health department and CDC guidance. Strict protocols for sanitation, masks, social distancing, temperature checks, etc. will be in place. A return to the studio, when the city and county enter Phase III, will be implemented in phases to ensure we are protecting the health of our students.
