Where Dreams And Reality Collide

A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream choreography by Mark Godden

This retelling of the iconic Shakespearean play is a comedy of errors, where dreams and reality collide and where fairies meddle in the affairs of mortals. Explored through ballet, this story is one about creation, transformation, forgiveness and love. An original Ballet Memphis commission, this piece showcases Mark Godden’s (“Angels in the Architecture,” “A Distant Glimmer”) distinctive comedic storytelling with great wit and sensitivity.

In Dreams choreography by Trey McIntyre

Choreographed for Ballet Memphis by Master American Choreographer Trey McIntyre (“Patsy Cline Gets Her Heart Broken,” “Pork Songs,” “The Naughty Boy”), this intimate and powerful ballet is set to the virtuosic and impassioned voice of the great Roy Orbison. “In Dreams” is deeply tied to Ballet Memphis’ longstanding position as an interpreter of new American dance. An audience favorite, “In Dreams” has been performed by Ballet Memphis all over the country including the Kennedy Center (Washington, DC) and Joyce Theater (New York City).
