New class for special needs caregivers and other professionals

"The Interplay of Movement and Learning" - A workshop for parents, teachers, therapists, and other professionals interested in movement development, dance and life-long learning for students with and without disabilities.

Did you know:

  • a child’s earliest learning is based on motor development
  • movement patterns developed through the first year of a child’s life lay the foundation for sensory motor development and life long learning
  • the part of the brain that processes movement is the same part of the brain that processes learning
  • studies have linked physical activity with increased gains in reading and attentiveness.

The relationship of movement to physical, cognitive, social and emotional development will be explored through participatory experiences that can be re-created at home or in the classroom. Participants will learn the eight basic patterns of the Brain Dance, developed by Anne Green Gilbert and how to incorporate and build on these patterns during play, daily routines and classroom activities.

Please join us as we play, learn and move!
