Brandon and Virginia Ramey Named as Co-Directors of Ballet Memphis School

Ballet Memphis is pleased to announce that Virginia and Brandon Ramey have been named Co-Directors of the Ballet Memphis School and Youth Ballet Memphis (YBM) beginning June 2023. After many successful seasons as leading artists in the professional company, Virginia and Brandon will be retiring from the stage to fulfill their longtime dream of leading the organization’s school and youth programming. “Ballet Memphis School is incredibly special to me and I feel so fortunate and honored to move in to this next role, especially alongside my husband Brandon” says Virginia.

Artistic Director, Steven McMahon
“Brandon and Virginia have been a huge part of Ballet Memphis’ identity and success over the years, as well as an inspiration to countless dancers. I will personally miss working with them in the studio as they have been at the core of some of my best work. I am so glad that we’ve found a way to keep them part of the Ballet Memphis family.”

The Rameys are currently participating in American Ballet Theatre’s multi-year Teacher Training Intensive, where they receive best in class instruction on dance pedagogy and child development. This program’s curriculum and ethos has become cornerstones of the Ramey’s instructional philosophy and it, along with the school’s current methodology, will shape the school’s evolution and direction for years to come.

Virginia and Brandon will take their final bows Sunday, April 16th at the closing performance of Cinderella, in which they are dancing the title roles. Please congratulate the Rameys on this exciting transition and plan to see them perform one last time next month at the Orpheum!
