Hideko Karasawa is originally from Nagano, Japan and joined Ballet Memphis in 2008 following her training at San Francisco Ballet School where she studied on full scholarship. Favorite ballets include the title roles in Steven McMahon’s Cinderella and Romeo and Juliet, as well as Clara in Nutcracker, and roles in Julia Adam’s Devil’s Fruit and Matthew Neenan’s The Darting Eyes. Hideko was a semifinalist at the Prix de Lausanne and at USA International Ballet Competition. She won first place at the Youth America Grand Prix.
